Football agents are using every opportunity to get there clients names in the spotlight. Katlego Mphela's agent, Glyn Binkin, has confirmed a trial has been set up for the striker with Celtic. If all goes well, it is reported that a deal worth £1.5m could be arranged. The South African World Cup striker currently plays for Mamelodi Sundowns but is keen to try his luck in Europe again after spells with Strasbourg and Reims. Maccabi Haifa are also rumoured to be interested in signing Mphela but may not be able to match the figure the Sundowns are holding out for.
Binkin said: "I can confirm that Mphela has an offer for a trial with Glasgow Celtic. I passed the letter of invitation on to Sundowns in the last 24 hours. Maccabi's best offer was R14.5-million (£1.3million) but there are other clubs, like Dynamo and Celtic, who could afford as much as R17million (£1.5million). Clubs like that want to be able to see the player before signing, though. Katlego's an unknown quantity in Europe. He played there before but didn't quite make it the first time, so clubs want him to come on trial first."
