Scotland Under 19s managed to secure a draw last night and so share the top of the table for the mini-tournament in Northern Ireland. The score ended up 1-1 with Scotland's goal coming from Martin Woods of Leeds United. Scotland were a goal down in the first half in Belfast, but came back strongly in the second half. It looked as if the game would not go Scotland's way no matter what they did. They even had Michael Gardyne sent off ten minutes from the end. However, they played to the final whistle and managed to score in the final minute to make it 1-1.

The draw meant that Scotland and Ukraine finished with 5 points and an identical record, one win and two draws, and a goal difference of plus one. It was a highly satisfying outcome for coaches Archie Gemmill and Tommy Wilson, who had suffered from player withdrawals, and gives great hopes for Scotland’s chances in the UEFA qualifiers at the end of the season.
