According to Don Hardman, Site Manager for Swangard, 60% of the anticipated 10,000 capacity have been sold to locals as part of ground packages which include entry to all games at the Burnaby Stadium. This, however, was of no use to the travelling Scots as they play their first two games at Victoria's Royal Athletic Park. Scots will be able to buy tickets through the FIFA website or by phone through a 1-866 number if they live in North America. The current capacity of the Vancouver Whitecap's home ground is a mere 5,800 but Hardman says the addition of temporary seats on the stadium's east side will begin three weeks prior to the first game there. "4,200 temporary seats will be put in on the east side of the stadium beginning 3 weeks prior to the first match here making it a full 10,000 by the day the tournament kicks off." Hardman said. This represents good news for Scotland fans who had been at the forefront of pressing FIFA and the Canadian Soccer Association to resolve the ticket issue. Harold McNeill, President of the Victoria Organising Committee, had already announced that Scots would be able to buy individual match tickets for Scotland's first two games on May 1st when Scotland visited there for their March friendly. | ||||
