Airdrie United have signed former Scotland squad goalkeeper Kenny Arthur for the season ahead as well as securing the services of experienced central defender David Lilley for another year. Arthur, who played with Partick Thistle for 11 years, has returned home after playing with Accrington Stanley, Rochdale and Grimsby in England over the last five years. Rather than return to his former club, Arthur opted to agree a deal with the Diamonds. Airdrie manager Jimmy Boyle also managed to convince former Queen of the South, Aberdeen, Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock stopper Lilley to keep on playing despite him securing a full time job outside football.
Boyle said: "We are happy to say that a deal has been worked out that will keep David here as both him and Kenny will be very important players for us next season. They have loads of experience but they are also the type of players that have a positive impact in the dressing room around younger players."
