Pat Fenlon is well aware of the goal threat that Kris Boyd would bring if he is part of the team that will line up against Hibs tonight at Easter Road. The all-time SPL top goalscorer Boyd could make his second debut for Killie after re-signing on Saturday while former Celtic forward Cillian Sheridan is fit again after a hamstring injury. As if that was not bad enough for the Hibs defence, Irishman Paul Heffernan is the man in possession of the centre-forward's strip at the moment after scoring six goals in Kilmarnock's five-game unbeaten run. Fenlon knows they cannot just focus on the potential return of Boyd.
The Hibs manager said: "His record is very good when he was at Rangers and Kilmarnock previously. He knows where the goal is, that's for certain. But we have to concentrate on our own team and be ready for any eventuality, and that's what we have been working on for the last couple of days. There are some strikers in the league at the moment that are playing really well and chipping in with a lot of goals. Heffernan is a good player as well and knows where the goal is, and gets different types of finishes as well. If you throw Boyd, Heffernan, Cillian Sheridan into the mix, they have some real good goalscorers so it should make for an entertaining game."
Boyd scored 67 goals in his first spell with Killie and the 29-year-old remains top SPL scorer with 164 after returning from spells in England, Turkey and the United States. Killie manager Kenny Shiels said: "I think we will get a lift from him and he is one who will certainly add something to our team."
